
Bergfeld Lasertech is a laser technology company based in Aachen, Germany. We develop and manufacture advanced laser systems for customers in research, development, and pilot production.
Our systems are mainly delivered to universities, research institutes, and technology start-ups working on new materials, innovative production processes, and next-generation technologies.
To strengthen our service presence in North America, we are looking for a Laser Service Technician based in the Bay Area, California.
As a local service technician, you will support the installation, commissioning, training, and maintenance of our laser systems at customer sites in North America.
Your tasks include:
- Installing and commissioning laser systems at customer sites in California, Colorado, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and other locations in North America
- Providing customer training sessions on-site and online
- Supporting online trainings and service sessions, sometimes in the evening due to coordination with North American business hours
- Troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining installed systems
- Supporting our European service team during visits to the United States and Canada
- Acting as a local point of contact for selected customers
- Documenting service activities and providing feedback to our engineering and service teams
You have practical experience with laser systems and enjoy working independently in a technical service environment.
Ideally, you bring:
- Solid experience with laser systems, for example from an academic, industrial, or applied research background
- Strong knowledge of electronics and electrical systems
- Confidence in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other measurement tools
- A structured, reliable, and self-organized working style
- Previous experience in customer-facing technical service or support
- Good communication skills in English
- Residence in the Bay Area, California
- Willingness to travel within North America
Experience with laser safety, optical systems, motion systems, laboratory equipment, or process development is a plus.
We offer a flexible project-based cooperation model as an Independent Contractor.
